Research Services

Curious about your family history, want to revive your high school memories, or have questions about your own house or any of the old businesses of Clarkdale? Well maybe we can help you!

The Clarkdale Museum has a vast collection of photographs, objects, and archives that tell the story of Clarkdale’s early settlement, its diverse ethnic culture, and its growth as a residential and commercial center in the Verde Valley.

Among our collections are family photos and records, oral histories, and information on the various houses and businesses the United Verde Copper Company built with the intention of making Clarkdale a model company town. History on the various churches in our community is also available, and we have an almost complete collection of Clarkdale High School yearbooks in addition to historical data on the various schools in the area. Photos, records, and objects related to early miners, smelter workers, and mining processes provide information on the copper industry that put Arizona on the map. We will be glad to work with you regarding any questions you might have about this community, including its history, leaders, events, and activities.

Our collections are available to researchers on an appointment-only basis. Please contact Nathan Porter, Collections Team Leader, at chsm.collections@mail.com for further information.

Remember, the information we have in our collections comes from donations made by local residents and others interested in Clarkdale history. The more photos, archival documents, and objects you give us, the more information we can offer to researchers. Thinking about what to do with all your old family memorabilia? Please consider us as a repository for these priceless items. They ensure that your family’s personal history and our community’s legacy to Arizona will not be lost. We will take good care of them!
